Fantastic opportunity for a talented energy journalist with editing experience to coordinate and edit in-depth news articles across a range of leading energy brands. A minimum of four year’s experience in news journalism is required.

Our client is a specialist energy publishing group covering Oil, Gas, Petrochemicals, Nuclear and Renewable energy.

Job description:

Rapidly-expanding London-based Media Company seeks a Deputy Editor to coordinate a team of journalists and edit copy to a high standard across a broad range of energy brands. Some article writing will be required at times.

Responsibilities:

The Deputy Editor will:

  • Monitor industry news and produce story ideas on a regular basis.
  • Plan in-depth articles that will shape the decision-making of leading industry players.
  • Work with freelance writers to produce high quality content on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Provide journalists with potential research avenues for their articles.
  • Ensure articles are submitted on time and the editorial calendar is up-to-date.
  • Publish articles online and constantly improve brand quality.
  • Research the latest reports for future story ideas.
  • Coordinate in-house resources such as presentations and webinars to supplement original content.
  • Contribute to the editorial strategy for the energy brands and identify new business opportunities.

Required skills and experience:

  • Graduate (2:1) or above in Journalism or related field.
  • 4 + years’ news-writing experience.
  • Excellent editing skills.
  • Deep understanding of energy markets, politics and economics.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • High level of analytical ability.
  • Top notch communication skills; able to build working relationships internally and externally.
